aah sehraan-werdi taabki o khaireh-ser,
teri dunya-e-khurd kyun ho gayi zero-zaber;
aah teri zindagi josh-e-junoo ka shaahkar,
hesraten teri jwani wehshaton se humkinaar;
ye pareshaan baal ye wehshet-zadeh terz-e-khraam,
kis liye daur-e-tayyush ho gaya tujhpe haraam;
chilchilati dhoop me awara-gerdi kis liye;
kis liye aakhir bata sehraan-werdi kis liye;
kyun papeehe ki sadaa se is qader bezaar hai,
kis liye aqal-o-khurd se ber sar-e-pekaar hai;
tilmila uthta hai kyun dunia ko heste dekh ker,
muskra deta hai kyun dunia ko rote dekh ker;
sunke cherwahon ki bensi tu bipher jata hai kyun,
chelte-chelte raah me akser thaher jata hai kyun;
chandni raaton me tere wehshiana keh-kahe,
goonj uthte hain fiza me aah aakhir kis liye;
khushk pette kyun chuna kerta hai peron ke tale,
rote-rote muskra deta hai kyun o bawle;
